The Don Ross Scholarship

You're Invited to Partner with Us!

Springboro Area Historical Society is proud to offer a $1,000 scholarship to one local high school senior interested in studying history, museum studies, education or a related field.

The new scholarship is named in honor of Don Ross, a long-time educator and SAHS board member whose countless hours researching the history of Springboro and Clearcreek Township has informed and supported the efforts of our historical society for 35 years. Ross is a former Springboro High School English teacher, coach, and newspaper advisor who has served the historical society in many roles, from board president and co-founder to author of local history books and booklets.

You can partner with us in two important ways:

  • Spreading the word so our local students know about this scholarship opportunity
  • Contributing to our scholarship fund here

A NOTE ABOUT THE PHOTO --

This photo of school children, taken after Springboro was no longer a predominantly Quaker town, demonstrates that schools were integrated at a time when this was not universal and suggests that the welcoming nature of Quakers may have enabled black families to feel comfortable settling here.

Students Are Invited to Apply

The Don Ross Scholarship application period currently is closed. Check back later to print and complete an application form.
